Cassie Copperfield Slosser

Co-Founder, CEO,

Producer, Expert Level Teaching Artist

 

Cassie Copperfield Slosser brings a dynamic and collaborative spirit to Malibu Theater Company, combining her extensive background in the performing arts with successful organizational leadership. Originally from Devon, England, Cassie relocated to California in 2004 to pursue her passion for theater at the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts. It was there that she cultivated her love for the arts, developing her skills as a dedicated teaching artist and performer.

 

Following her graduation, Cassie dedicated over a decade to Monte Nido Behavioral Health Care, rising to serve as Director of Business Operations. She continued her leadership journey at Journey Malibu, where she excelled as Director of Operations, seamlessly blending her organizational expertise with her artistic passions to enrich program offerings and community engagement.

 

Currently, Cassie serves as the Director of Operations at The Carolyn Costin Institute, supporting individuals on their journey to healing from disordered eating. Her wealth of experience managing successful organizations is matched by her genuine passion for inspiring creativity and fostering community through the performing arts.

 

Beyond her professional pursuits, Cassie is a devoted mother to her children, Bickleigh and Coco, and a loving wife to Oliver Slosser. She is thrilled to bring her dedication and vision to Malibu Theater Company, aiming to broaden the cultural landscape and ignite artistic expression within the community.

Maureen Ganz

Co-Founder, Vice President,

Drama Therapist, Expert Level Teaching Artist

 

A proud Malibu native, Maureen Ganz is passionate about harnessing the transformative power of the performing arts to inspire growth, resilience, and community connection. After graduating from Malibu High School in 2004, Maureen pursued her love of theater at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and further refined her craft through extensive training at the Second City Training Center in Los Angeles.

 

Initially embarking on a career in the entertainment industry, Maureen’s desire to create meaningful positive change led her to a pivotal role at Journey Malibu, where she eventually became Program Director. In 2016, she co-founded AdLib LA, an organization dedicated to providing arts-based mental health support to individuals and communities. Her deep passion for the phrase “yes, and” has made her company a transformative presence in the mental health space across Southern California, emphasizing collaboration, acceptance, and resilience.

 

Currently, Maureen is pursuing her graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her thesis explores how arts-based programs, combined with depth psychology, can serve as innovative tools for prison reform and resilience-building efforts to reduce recidivism. Her commitment to fostering healing and self-expression through the arts continues to drive her work and her vision for Malibu Theater Company.

 

Maureen is excited to bring her expertise, creativity, and heartfelt dedication to enriching the lives of students and families in Malibu and beyond—empowering communities through artistic collaboration, expression, and healing.

Dr. Andrew Wilson

Director of Music 

Music Director, Conductor, and Multi-Instrumentalist

 

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Andy Wilson’s passion for music and community is evident in everything he does. When he's not conducting or performing, he enjoys cooking for friends and family and exploring the great outdoors through camping and nature adventures.

 

Andy holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Willamette University, as well as Master's degrees in both Choral Conducting and Teaching. In 2023, he completed his Doctorate in Choral and Sacred Music at USC, where his research focused on vocology and arts leadership. His dissertation explored the rich musical oeuvre of composer Alfred Désenclos.

 

With extensive experience teaching at elementary, high school, and college levels, Andy is a highly sought-after clinician and performer. He serves as a conductor of choirs and orchestras, contributes as a music director for worship bands, and is active as a recording studio conductor and producer. His versatility extends to his proficiency on multiple instruments—including piano, guitar, bass, and drums—enabling him to bring a rich, collaborative musical perspective to every project.

 

Through his broad expertise and deep passion for music, Andy is dedicated to inspiring others and enriching our community through the power of song, harmony, and shared musical expression.

Celeste Grundman

Music Instructor 

​Vocal Coach, Musician 

Celeste's journey in music began at a young age, honing her skills through performances and rigorous training at the Vocal Power Academy under esteemed instructors like Elizabeth Howard and Seth Riggs. Her early career saw her sharing the stage with icons like Michael Jackson and competing on Natalie Cole’s “Big Break.” Gaining attention from major labels and management, she transitioned to teaching at Vocal Power while building her career as a singer-songwriter, performing at prestigious venues in Los Angeles.

In her pursuit of mastery, Celeste developed her own methods of vocal coaching, integrating techniques learned from her mentors. Her solo career thrived alongside collaborations, including working with DJ Rokuro and releasing music that climbed the charts on platforms like Beatport. Recognition followed, with awards such as the National Runner Up for Ballad of The Year and the "Rising Star" Award at the Malibu Music Awards, cementing her influence both locally and nationally.

Motherhood brought a new dimension to her life, with Celeste embracing the role while continuing her musical journey. Married to her producer and collaborator, they maintain music at the heart of their family. Celeste actively teaches and collaborates with emerging artists, planning future releases and providing vocal classes to nurture upcoming talent, ensuring that music and arts education remain vibrant in her community.

Kids & Youth Programs


Our programs inspire creativity and build confidence in young learners:

  • After School Theater Classes (TK–Grade 5):
    Weekly classes culminating in two spectacular musical productions each year.

  • Puppetry & Puppeteering:
    Support kids’ creativity and social-emotional skills through engaging puppet-making and performance.

  • Improv for Kids:
    Fun, energetic improv classes designed to boost confidence, public speaking, and social skills.

  • In-School Support for Teachers:
    Short play productions aligned with classroom learning objectives, enhancing curriculum engagement.

  • Music Lessons in Schools:
    Approved by SMMUSD, offering in-school instruction in piano, voice, and guitar for TK–Grade 12.

  • Private Music Lessons:
    Personalized in-person or virtual lessons for children and adults (ages 8-108).

  • Summer Camps (Dates TBD):

    • Shakespeare Intensive Summer Camp 

    • Music Theater Camp

  • Express Interest / Enrollment:
    Parents and Community members can submit interest forms, schedule a chat with us, or register for programs here.
